Minute by His Excellency the Acting Governor.

This Morning I directed that the weakness and unreliability in the evidence of the case referred to, remarked on by the Attorney General, should be pointed out to her. I presume this has been done, and his inquiry will have been answered.

This has been done.

Gentlemen,

I have the honour, by direction of His Excellency the Acting Governor, to acknowledge the receipt of your letters of the 8th and 9th instant relative to the case of Chan Tik-Cheung alias Ting Sam, and to inform you that it was not considered necessary to send you a reply until the matter had been referred to the Acting Attorney General, whose observations were received yesterday.

The case, as you are aware, is now before the Magistrate. And I am to add that a satisfactory prima facie case has been made out against Ting Sam.
